Each year around this time (February/March) a full day live broadcast from NYC is put on by TEDx Manhattan with the theme “Changing The Way We Eat”. As described on their website TEDx Manhattan is “licensed and organized by Diane Hatz, founder and executive director of Change Food. The first event took place in February 2011; the fifth event will take place on March 7, 2015. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)”
Some friends and I have made it a tradition to watch this together every year and this year I am spreading the word in hopes that maybe you too will watch with us from the comforts of your home. Many great speakers take the stage and teach us about what it is their career or personal life has done to improve our food system. It is an inspiring and eye opening day. Join in for this year’s TEDxManhattan on Saturday, March 7th, 2015 starting at 10:30am Eastern (so 8:30am for us Calgarians).
